What is your company's most aggressive line of business? IMT is looking to expand in commercial lines and bonds.
Do you use credit scoring? Yes, on new business and only as an underwriting tool. IMT has significant data in the system that shows credit scoring works.
Do you currently download/upload with your agencies? We do both as we download to most systems and upload through the Internet and Applied. The company is requiring all agents to be on the Internet or Applied by April of 2002 in order to upload business.
What methods do you use to distribute your insurance products? We use only Independent Agents.
What do you think makes your company different, or stand out from all the rest in Illinois? Why would an agent want to contract with your company? We are a solid regional mutual that still listens but we also have our eye on the future, as we are considered advanced in the area of automation.
If we had agents agree to sell homeowners policies with actual cash value endorsements, would you write more business in southern Illinois? We have not reached Southern Illinois as yet. We started in the north because it was closer and are working south.
What are the major ways in which you are interfacing electronically with your agents today? The Internet and we are very pleased as we have the best program available.
Are you planning enhancements in these interfaces in the future? Definitely, the possibilities are endless. In 2003, we will make commercial auto and work comp. available for quoting and issuing on the Internet.
Additional Comments: IMT is one of the oldest companies in Iowa and prides themselves on being agent-friendly. The company has an advisory panel in Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois. IMT has 57 agents in Illinois, but are only appointing in areas where they have no representation. The company has a marketing representative in Northern Illinois and Central Illinois. IMT wrote a total of 97 million in 2002 and want to grow another 8% in 2003.
