What is your company's most aggressive line of business? Automobile is our largest line, however, homeowner has been very aggressive the past 12 months.

Do you use credit scoring? At this time we do not use credit scoring, but will order full credit reports at underwriter's discretion.

What methods do you use to distribute your insurance products? Exclusively independent agents.

What do you think makes your company different, or stand out from all the rest in Illinois? Why would an agent want to contract with your company? We are a very stable company made up of very qualified employees. We are based in Illinois and understand the needs of Illinois consumers concerning automobile and homeowners insurance.

If we had agents agree to sell homeowners policies with actual cash value endorsements, would you write more business in Southern Illinois? Most likely, if the risks met all of our other underwriting factors.

What are the major ways in which you are interfacing electronically with your agents today? Are you pleased with the results? Even though we do not interface with agency management programs, our current agency communication program is quite effective and well received by our agency force.

Additional Comments: Madison Mutual has approximately 140 agents in Illinois. In 2002, 17 were added and in the first month of 2003, the company had already added 6 or seven new agents. The fastest growing area for the company is the Kankakee, Bourbonais, Bradley area. Madison Mutual prefers to appoint only one agent in towns of 5,000 or less. In larger towns, the company will consider more appointments.
