Are you currently appointing new agents? Yes, we are actively seeking new agencies in many towns and cities in Illinois . We do, however, limit the number of our contracts to provide better value for our agency partners.

What type of agency is your company looking for? We seek agencies who desire a strong company partner that provides regional underwriting, outstanding claims and marketing services together with a state of the art automation system. Agencies that are growing and are writing preferred personal lines accounts are typically an ideal match with Kemper Auto and Home.

What are your premium volume requirements? (In profit sharing? In life?) Kemper Auto and Home's profit sharing plan starts at $250,000. We do not write life business, so there are no requirements there. Agencies who write $750,000 or more are eligible for a suite of additional benefits through our Franchise Agency program. Agencies vary in size from $100,000 to over $3 million in business with Kemper Auto and Home.

Are you currently doing any niche-marketing program? No. We write a broad cross section of personal lines business.

What is your company’s most aggressive line of business? Kemper Auto and Home's Package policy is extremely popular with both agents and policyholders. While we do write monoline home and auto accounts, most agents prefer to write package policies with us.

Do you use credit scoring? Yes. Insurance scoring is used on new business and accounts are re-scored every three years or upon agent request.

What methods do you use to distribute your insurance products? We distribute our auto, home, boat, umbrella and package policies through independent agencies. We are a Trusted Choice member and assist many of our agents in marketing their agencies.

What do you think makes your company different, or stand out from all the rest in Illinois ? Why would an agent want to contract with your company? As a member of the Unitrin family, Kemper Auto and Home is a financially strong and stable company with corporate headquarters in Chicago . Our outstanding package policy together with industry leading automation and regional underwriting provides agents with both a great product to sell and great service to back it up. Our agencies consistently rate both our responsiveness and customer service as excellent. Writing business in 40 states also gives our agents the ability to handle multi-state accounts quickly and easily.

If we had agents agree to sell homeowners policies with actual cash value endorsements, would you write more business in southern Illinois ? At this time we do not offer actual cash value coverage for Coverage A on homeowner policies. However, we are considering it and would be interested in discussing the possibility with agents.
