Are you currently appointing new agents? Yes, in select areas where we currently have no representation.

What type of agency is your company looking for? We are searching for well established, professional agencies that have a proven track record of financial responsibility. The prospects should be active and respected within their community. They must also be automated and active members of the PIIAI.

What are your premium volume requirements? Profit Sharing will start at $100,000 and we would expect a new agency to reach that in 1 to 1 ½ years. An agency should be willing to commit to the $250,000 level by the end of the third year.

Are you currently doing any niche marketing program? IMT currently is looking for personal lines packages, small contractors and BOP business. We also have special programs for car washes, veterinarians, office buildings, golf courses and mini storage warehouses.

What is your company's most aggressive line of business? Personal lines packages. We are very competitive with mini vans and sport utility vehicles.

Do you use credit scoring? Yes, as part of our underwriting process.

Do you currently download/upload with your agencies? We download to most agency systems and upload through Applied, APT users and through the Internet.

What methods do you use to distribute your insurance products? Independent agencies only.

What makes your company stand out from all the rest in Illinois? Why would an agent want to contract with your company? IMT is a strong, regional mutual company that still listens to the agents. We have been a good, stable market for our agents for 117 years and plan to continue far into the future. When looking to the future, we think we are at the fore-front in automation and underwriting. Our Claims and Marketing are handled by our own people who live in the area, which allows for a better rapport between the agency and the company. Quite simply, we are a throw back to the past with an eye on the future.
