Personal: 100%Are you currently appointing new agents? Yes. Mercury is looking to appoint new agents in the northern and central portion of the state of Illinois.
What type of agency is your company looking for? Mercury looks to appoint professional agencies committed to growth and profitability. We seek agents that are personal lines oriented and are dedicated to building a strong, long-term relationship with a top notch carrier. Outstanding claims service and the quality of the company must be an important factor in the agency's decision to do business with a company.
What are your premium volume requirements? Our volume requirements for appointment are, $100,000 in a 12-18 month period with the agency able to achieve a premium volume of $250,000 within a three-year period. To be eligible for participation in Mercury's contingency program, the minimum volume requirement is $50,000.
Are you currently doing any niche marketing program? Mercury's "niche" is personal lines. We currently write a variety of personal auto programs including, Ultra-Preferred, Preferred, Standard, and Non-Standard. We have just introduced a new Homeowners program and we continue to write our Personal Umbrella policy.
What is your company's most aggressive line of business? We have traditionally been an "auto" market and will always continue to be aggressive in that line. We are very excited and optimistic about our new "home" product and anticipate that it will be very well received by our agents.
Do you use credit scoring? Mercury has begun to use credit scoring with our new homeowners program. So far, we have not utilized scoring on our auto, however, that may change in the future.
Do you currently download/upload with your agencies? Mercury is able to offer our agents a "state of the art" true upload and download automation system.
What methods do you use to distribute your insurance products? Mercury is 100% committed to the independent agency system and our independent agents are and will remain, our only distribution channel. Any leads generated through our website are distributed to our agents for them to follow up on.
What makes your company stand out from all the rest in Illinois? Why would an agent want to contract with your company? Mercury has a very unique philosophy and way of doing business that sets us apart. Any agency that places a high value on solid front line underwriting, excellent renewal retentions, financial stability and outstanding claims service would make a good candidate for appointment with Mercury.
