Privacy Requirements

Illinois Regulations

The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) imposes a series of unprecedented privacy requirements on the insurance community. The Illinois Department of Insurance has amended the Illinois Insurance Code which governs the treatment of personal information by all Illinois licensees. The new regulations provide guidance for compliance with Title V of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act. For a copy of the Illinois regulations in PDF format, please click below.

The Insurance Agents & Brokers Guide to Privacy

IIAA has prepared a comprehensive and extensive guide for insurance agents and brokers. This guide was developed in large part by the law firm of Collier Shannon Scott and in conjunction with other agent and broker trade associations. The "final" results of this effort have been posted below for your review and use. There are three separate documents in PDF format. If you have any questions about the guide and these attachments, please contact Marianne Caulfield, IIAA's attorney in the Office of the General Counsel. Marianne's e-mail address is mcaulfield@iiaa.net, or she can be reached at IIAA's Alexandria Office at (703) 683-4422.
