As a young agent, you need exposure to information, knowledge, and resources to be more successful as an insurance professional. PIIAI recognizes that young agents are the future of the industry. We, therefore, have a vested interest in your success. Under the direction of the Young Agents Committee, PIIAI develops programs and activities that specifically address the needs and concerns of young agents, as well as promotes the advancement of all independent insurance professionals. Here is a sampling of what we have to offer. Young Agent Activities. In an effort to bring together young agents from throughout the state and provide important networking opportunities, the PIIAI Young Agents Committee sponsors various events throughout the year. This year's activities will include WhirlyBall in Lombard, baseball caravan to St. Louis, regional conference in the Wisconsin Dells, an outing in Peoria, and activities at the PIIAI convention. PIIAI is leading the way in electronic communications. The Young Agents Advocate, is a monthly newsletter posted on this website. This publication includes marketing tips and brief articles of interest to young agents, as well as information on continuing education, technology, and association events. PIIAI is the largest insurance education provider in Illinois. We offer quality continuing education programs throughout the year on the latest legal and professional practices. You can earn your CIC or CISR designations; attend hot-topic seminars; or participate in in-house training classes. For more information, see our Education Section. Annual Convention. Each year, PIIAI hosts one of the largest independent agents convention and trade shows in the country. Nationally recognized experts provide education; social functions offer networking opportunities; and the industry trade exposition can introduce you to the latest products and services on the market. Maintaining a positive business climate for Illinois independent agents is a top priority of PIIAI's Government Affairs Department, and young agents are an integral part of our program. By participating in our state Legislative Day or National Legislative Conference, your voice is heard by our elected officials. Additionally, your involvement in our Political Action Committee will support candidates who recognize the importance of the insurance industry and American Agency System. Presented at the PIIAI Convention Showcase, this annual award recognizes the achievements of young agents in Illinois. Candidates must have demonstrated service to the insurance industry, professional trade associations, and community in a manner that would be considered exceptional for a person of his or her age. Nominations are submitted by PIIAI member agencies.
