Looking for Qualified Young Talent for Your Agency? 2
Following the success of the past internship programs, PIIAI is again seeking agencies interested in hiring qualified intern candidates from some of the top universities in the state. The summer program offers a pool of young talent available to participating agencies allowing the agencies to mold the future of the industry.  If you chose to hire an intern through this program, your agency will be responsible for compensation and guiding the student through an eight-week program that allows them to experience the independent agency system. The 2007 program will feature the on-line search capabilities of last year.  Students will have the opportunity to search the list of agencies looking to fill positions and agencies can search the database of students.  If your agency is interested in participating in this program please go to the Internship website at http://www.piiai.org/internship/ and fill out the agency sign-up form.

Join PIIAI at the Big “I” Legislative Conference & Convention

PIIAI is coordinating a delegation of member agents to attend the Big “I” Legislative Conference and Convention in Washington, D.C., April 25-27. This event will be three action-packed days where insurance professionals can meet with legislators, network with companies and service provides and learn from industry leaders and coaches.

The Big “I” is the one voice for independent agents on Capitol Hill, in state governments and insurance departments and with companies. The 2007 change in Congress is a mixed bag for the industry, so it is important that agents and brokers’ voices are heard through the halls of Capitol Hill. The Big “I” makes it easy by providing briefings and talking points to agents in attendance before they visit with legislators.

PIIAI will assist member agents who are interested in attending the Big “I” conference by paying the conference registration fee and first-night hotel deposit for all attendees and will reimburse first time attendees for travel up to $200. To qualify for the trip and reimbursements, attendees must make a $150 contribution to InsurPac, our federal political action committee, and their agency must be a contributor to PIIAPAC, our state political action committee.

If you’re looking for more reasons to attend, click here to check-out the sights and sounds of Washington, D.C. through the eyes of a young agent.

If you are interested in finding out more about the Big “I” Legislative Conference and Convention and travel incentives offered by the PIIAI, please contact Jennifer Jacobs at (217) 321-3013.
